Our Story

Hi! I have always had problems with my health and was diagnosed in 1983 with Systemic Lupus. I was told I had a maximum of 10 years to live. By 1988 I was in pretty bad shape, and then God sent me a wonderful husband! He married me with 5 years to live because he said, "If this is the woman God has for me, I will take how ever much time he has given me with her." Well, he got together with my doctors and weaned me off of all the drugs they had me on (steroids, antidepressants, anti-inflammatories), made sure that I got at least 12 hours sleep a night and hired a house-keeper! I started to improve a little at a time.

In 1995, several things changed all in a short time. I was prayed over at church and we just asked that God would make me well so I could watch my kids grow up. Shortly after that the insurance company (I was on permanent disability) wrote me off as a bad job and paid us a death benefit on me. This was a great thing because it took off the financial strain, and it meant that I didn’t have to go to the doctor all the time and prove how sick I was! If you have never dealt with insurance companies this will sound strange, but it was a huge relief! We had also recently moved to the country and our house had a really deep well; we started growing some of our own food; and we started home schooling the kids.

Then, in 1998, I had my Gall Bladder out and I was one of the 5% who never digest again after this operation. I tried lactobacillus, digestive aids, pig bile, you name it. But I still spent at least a couple of hours every day down with cramps and diarrhea .

Still, I was feeling stronger all the time. I wasn’t as tired all the time, I started to spend more time outside doing things around the ranch, etc. I guess my energy level just started picking up and I stopping being too sick to go out. But I still had about two bouts of severe flu a year and I couldn’t digest much of anything.

Then, on October 4th, 2003, I was having lunch with some friends after church and I got sick to my stomach. My friend tore a check out of her checkbook and wrote three names on the back of the check: Primal Defense, Omegazyme and Perfect Food. She told me to stop at the store and get these three products on my way home. Well, I didn’t think we had time before I "really" got sick, and it was Sunday afternoon; where was I going to find a Health Food Store that was open? Well, on the way home, we noticed a Health Food Store and it was open! We stopped, my husband took the note in and handed it to the clerk and just said he wanted those things. We had no idea what they were.

On the way home I took one pill out of each bottle. Then I thought, "That was dumb!" Because I didn’t digest pills either! Well, by the time we drove the 3 miles home – I wasn’t sick anymore! I never got sick that day at all!

I was so excited that I called my other friend, Lora, who I have known for years and, who was in bed with breast cancer. I said, "Guess what? I found something for my stomach!" She said, "I don’t believe it and I’m bored. See if they gave you any information on it that I can lie here and read." So I looked in the bag and there was a catalog, which I asked one of my daughters to drive over to Lora’s house.

An hour later Lora called me back. They had a supplement in the catalog for cancer! Well, there is a long story here, but in the end it turns out that God has a sense of humor. The Garden of Life company let us open an internet health food store, Health Food Emporium, over a weekend so that we could get the supplement (RM-10) for our friend Lora.
